62: Your Pageant Vision to Define Success

Podcast Cover Photos-11I have been filled up on the idea of Vision for the last month! First, our church has been talking about vision for the last several weeks and then, this weekend, my coach hosted our quarterly mastermind and it was all about developing vision.

My fiancé and I had an incredible conversation about the vision we have for our future and how we see it helping others as they are impacted by us, not just the people in our community, but in our church, our neighborhood, our clients, even our podcast listeners like you! It was such a great reminder to start with the end in mind in order to take action to create happiness!

Proverbs 29:18 says,
“where there is not vision, the people will perish….” it goes on to say, “but happy are the people that keep the law.”

Vision is what drives action. Without vision the actions are all over the place, running to the left and right instead of staying the course toward the end goal…the ultimate vision.

When you have a vision, you can inspire people around you to join your movement and follow the path with you. Without vision, you perish. You get all caught up in what you aren’t doing, comparison to the vision of others, you don’t have a path to walk down and you’re basically lost in the sauce.

Every successful pageant woman has a vision. You need one too! In this episode, I’m going to break down the 5 steps that you’ll take to create your vision.

You can apply these steps in any area of your life: career, relationship, home, business, family. Today, we are focusing on pageantry, but I encourage you to create a vision for every area of life!

1. Awareness

We are a product of the 10 people we spend the most time with. The same is true for every area of your life you are what you eat, what you consume, what you read, what you say, how you think, how you behave.

Start by taking inventory of what is currently influencing you. Do not judge yourself in this exercise. This is strictly about awareness. We can change these things moving forward, but we have to first know what they are. Just be honest. Write a list of the top 10 influencers of your pageant vision. We’re gonna break it into 5 categories: people that influence your vision (boss, colleagues, boyfriend, mom, 3 sorority sisters, roommate, husband, coach, best friend, competition… you get the idea), sources of information (audio books, radio, tv show you binge watch, your gossipy girlfriend, your pastor, mentor, podcasts you listen to, books you read, newspaper, voy forums, magazines, youtube videos), images you see (laptop background image, Instagram, library, office, living room, kitchen what is in your environment?), actions you take, your habits (like slouching, yoga, flipping your hair, eating chicken), phrases or words you say (totally, so good, I know, yup, she is so…, I can’t even, I love you, I’m so proud of…, I’m happy to… ). It may take you 20 minutes or so to do this part, so if you want to pause this audio and go for it right now, please do.

2. Assessment

Now, you’re going to assess the value each of these bring or pull from your life. Everything in our environment holds a positive or negative impact on us it’s either adding to your taking from you life. You know when you’re around someone super negative and it’s just so draining, but then you get around a positive patty and you are just on cloud 9, feeling great and pumped up on life! The same happens to your judges, they feel your energy too. When they are meeting so many women with great looks and skills, the thing that stands out most is their energy. Look at your list. Next to everything you wrote down put a plus sign next to the things that add positivity, abundance, happiness, joy, and life to your pageant experience. Next to everything and everyone that weighs you down, tears you up, adds problems, or sucks your energy, draw a line through it.

3. Development

Time to develop your vision of true pageant success! Get a new piece of paper and write the top 10 things you WANT in your life in each category you completed before: people, sources of information, images, actions, and words/phrases. You will likely want to surround yourself with uplifting and successful pageant women, maybe a positive pageant coach, supportive friends, you may want to gather information from credible sources, get book recommendations for uplifting and informative reading, maybe you want a beautiful new pair of Jonathan Kaynes, or a closet full of the latest fashions and fancy pageant gowns, you may want to be able to create your make up like a pageant pro or start your day with fresh squeezed orange juice; maybe you want to walk in heels more or know how to dance for opening number, maybe you want to practice walking, waving, or just standing with confidence, maybe you want to shift your language to build people up, be able to discuss your successes easily, and be a joy to be around.

This is the kind of stuff I want you thinking about. How can you become the woman you know you are meant to be to win this pageant! I want you to spend some time on this maybe another 20 minutes. Really envision what you believe is your absolute best self pageant crown and all!

4. Creation

Once you know the keys that make up your vision in your mind, put it into your environment. We need to train your mind to see other things that will shift your brain and body into a new direction. That is the power of a Vision Board. A vision board is basically a collage of images that build your life in the direction you want it to head. It includes only positive and uplifting images that train your brain to prepare for success and take action toward it. To level this one step further, start doing the things you need to get you closer to your vision: cook a healthy dinner, hire the coach you’ve had your eyes on, connect with some amazing pageant women, take a make up lesson, organize your closet, reach out to your mentor; draw into your life exactly what you need to make your vision come true.

5. Placement

Put your vision board somewhere that you’ll see it at the beginning of the day. Early in the morning when we first wake up, our brains have tiny little neurons that were formed over night. Whatever they latch onto is how they will grow. When you wake up in the morning, look at your vision board to teach those baby neurons to prepare for a life of awesomeness with your new pageant title! When your vision board is in front of you, you are far more likely to take action towards this effort. You’ll become the woman you desire to be, the woman you know is positioned to win. That is your goal and the reason that successful women have a vision of success.

Without a vision, the people perish. With a vision, the sky’s the limit!!

And that, my dear, is how you win a pageant.
